How can I get Telecom Niue 4G services activated?

It’s very easy. You need a 4G capable device compatible with Band 28, pick up a SIM from our shop at Airport or at Commercial Centre at Alofi South, our helpful Customer Service Representatives will help you in configuring your phone loading the calling app and suggesting the best bundles for your use. What frequency does Telecom Niue Limited 4G use?

Telecom Niue Limited 4G Network uses 700 MHz frequency Band 28.

What devices are supported on 4G?

Our new 4G LTE mobile network operates on 700 MHz spectrum (known as Band 28), which is common in Australia and New Zealand. You will need a device that supports this band. Given the large number of mobile phones available Telecom Niue Limited is unable to provide advice on which phones are supported.

Do I need a new phone?

Perhaps. It depends on what make and model of phone you have, Telecom Niue network currently does not support Apple devices. If your phone supports, the spectrum bands that we use on our 4G (Band 28) then you do not need to change. If not, then you will need a new phone. Any iPhones with VoLTE will work on our network. Just ensure your phone is not network locked.

Will the phone come with a Data plan?
No

What options do I have if my phone doesn’t have band 28

We have rent MIFI devices from our shops at the airport or Commercial Centre

Provided there is a landline where you stay, we have an ADSL service (internet service through cable)

You can make cash calls (call & pay after) at the office in Alofi

We have Public WIFI hotspot at the office in Alofi

Can I self-manage my account?

Yes, the new billing system has a web self-care module so all customers will be able to self-manage many parts of their account online- Account top-up, Purchase bundles, Transfer money & Purchase power.

Can I share my Data?

No, but there will be an option to transfer money from your account to someone else so they can then buy their own data allowance.

Does 4G support voice?

The 4G network will support voice, SMS and data. For voice you will need to download a SIP app which our helpful Customer Service Representatives would assist you with configuring your phone.

Apple devices with VoLTE can do voice.

What if I forgot to recharge before data expired?

Your account would expire, and you will need to contact our Customer Service Representatives on 015 to reactivate your account.

What parts of the island would not have coverage?

Telecom Niue network has been designed so that we have the maximum amount of coverage achievable; however, there may be a few small ‘black spots’ with poor or no coverage. The Customer Service Representative will confirm with you.

Will my unused Data be rolled over to the next month?

Yes, but only if you recharge your plan a day before the expiry of your bundle.

Can visitors to Niue roam on voice and internet?

No. Visitors to the Island are unable to use international roaming currently. Compatible phones which are not locked to another network provider can use the Telecom Niue network.

A visitor SIM pack is available for $50 and offers great value data, voice and SMS.

Visitors can also rent MiFi devices from our shops at the Airport or Commercial Center .

Will I be able to use my Niue SIM when I visit New Zealand, Australia, or other countries?

Telecom Niue does not currently have any roaming agreements in place. You are not able to use your Telecom Niue SIM whilst overseas.
